Can help be commissioned from other schools?
Yes, for small schools or schools with particular staffing or other difficulties this could be a good option. Costs of the support mentors time may need to be covered. For some schools the LA may assist with the process of identifying suitable support from other schools, although schools are, of course, free to make their own arrangements. The support mentor could offer assistance with:
Observation moderation, consistency
Curriculum expertise and training for the ECT
Ensuring all tasks connected with induction are completed within expected timescales
